Grandma's Massage Oils and Gels
Our salves and massage oils begin with a mixture of herbs and either olive or peanut oil. The mixture is allowed to sit in a windowsill for at least a fortnight [two weeks] to infuse the herbal properties into the oil. This is called maceration. The mixture is then strained to remove the herbs. For balms and massage gels, beeswax and cocoa butter are added to the the herbal-infused oil. For scented massage oils, only essential oils are added.
The herbal infused oil in Grandma's blend makes an excellent massage oil. It is used by itself, or with some beeswax and cocoa butter added as a gel. Scented oils and gels are made by adding pure essential oils of flowers and herbs. Grandma's herbal infused oil is specially formulated for promoting healing and soothing chapped lips. It is made with organic olive oil, calendula, chamomile, chickweed, comfrey, mullein, witch hazel and yarrow.
